Incheon International Airport Hosts ‘Classical Concert for Severely Disabled’
Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), led by President Lee Hak-jae, hosted a unique performance titled ‘Kim Jang-hoon’s Classical Concert for the Severely Disabled’ at the Millennium Hall in Terminal 1.
This event was part of the airport’s ongoing efforts to celebrate Family Month in May, following events for Children’s Day and Parents’ Day.
The concert invited around 90 severely bedridden and visually impaired individuals from Incheon, along with their families. This special performance, where severely bedridden individuals can watch while lying down in the first two rows, began last year at Coex in Gangnam, Seoul, and has since reached its sixth iteration.
The ‘Lying Down Concert at Incheon Airport’ featured an energetic and distinctive performance by singer Kim Jang-hoon, alongside world-renowned baritone Kim Dong-kyu and pop soprano Han Ah-reum, who delivered a soothing classical music experience.
Since October last year, IIAC has been operating the ‘Safe Travel Center for the Disabled’ on the third floor of Terminal 1. This integrated platform consolidates various services for disabled passengers, including dedicated check-in, airport guidance, and electric vehicle mobility services, providing comprehensive convenience.
Singer Kim Jang-hoon expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am thankful to Incheon International Airport Corporation for their efforts in improving awareness about disabilities. With each performance, I feel a gradual shift in perceptions about disabilities. I will continue to deliver meaningful performances.”
President Lee Hak-jae of IIAC remarked, “I hope this concert helped foster greater understanding and respect between the disabled and non-disabled communities. As Korea’s leading airport, we will strive to be a hub connecting diverse cultures and people, ensuring convenience for everyone.”
In addition, IIAC hosts a variety of regular cultural performances at the Millennium Hall in Terminal 1 each month. These performances are free for airport users, employees, and local residents.
