Incheon Airport hosts 'Ghosts Outside the Machine' Media Art Exhibition
Incheon International Airport Corporation, in collaboration with the Arts Management Support Center, is presenting the media art exhibition "Ghosts Outside the Machine" from July 10 to November 10. This four-month exhibition will utilize the airport's large Digital screens and the exhibition space within Terminal 2's departure area, offering free access to all airport visitors.
The exhibition features 11 video works and 5 installation pieces by eight promising domestic artists. "Ghosts Outside the Machine" focuses on the idea that just as airports connect cities, modern individuals connect and form networks through the internet and communication devices.
This exhibition highlights the works of artists who explore themes sensitive to the digital age, where the boundaries between virtual and real blur, making it increasingly difficult to define our identities. It examines the relationship between virtual and real spaces and how technology reconstructs our sensory experiences, creating new spatiotemporal illusions.
An event official stated, "We are delighted to introduce rising stars of the Korean art scene at Incheon Airport, a hub for domestic and international tourists. Alongside the Incheon Airport media art exhibition, we plan to host an autumn art festival across South Korea to promote art tourism nationwide."
This initiative not only showcases cutting-edge media art but also aims to invigorate the country's art tourism sector, making art more accessible to a wider audience. The exhibition promises to be a significant cultural event, highlighting the fusion of technology and art in today's interconnected world.
